Term Taster
Introductory Coaching Cycle

The Term Taster offers a 4-week introductory opportunity to instructional literacy coaching, designed for teachers to engage with practical, evidence-informed literacy strategies.

 

Teachers are supported through actionable approaches to reflect on and refine their literacy instruction and improve their instructional practices.

 

This experience provides teachers with immediate, practical tools to improve their literacy practice and drive student success, establishing a solid foundation for ongoing development. 

Included:

  • Termly literacy coaching*

  • Sharing of and preparing planning documentation

  • 2x literacy coaching cycles

  • Personalised goal setting and feedback 

  • Tailored literacy resources and materials

  • Planning of observation and modelling sessions

  • Classroom observations and demonstrations

  • Virtual support between sessions (calls and emails)

Each coaching cycle will involve a mix of identifying goals, observing practices, modelling strategies, collecting evidence and providing feedback. 

Sample Literacy Coaching Cycles:

Session 1

-60 minutes 

-observation or modelling (teacher discretion)

-a coaching conversation to establish a targeted goal

 

Session 2

- 60 minutes

-observation or modelling (opposite of the previous session)

-a review of the Session 1 observation/modelling with feedback and directions for next steps
 

CYCLE TWO

Session 1

-60 minutes 

-observation or modelling (teacher discretion)

-a coaching conversation to establish a targeted goal

 

Session 2

-60 minutes

-observation or modelling (opposite of the previous session)
